August 2002
Moving
the site... Following a series of PHP/CGI outages ( the last of
which was the result of PHP being upgraded and lasted 10
hours on 22nd August ), bandwidth limitations and service
limitations, I have decided to move the site from my current
hosting company Cedant to hostroute.co.uk. This will entail moving all HTML,
PHP, CGI and also the database tables onto the new server -
something which will take quite some time to complete, but I
hope to have it completed by the start of September, after
which point I will change the Nameservers to point to the new
hosts.
Also, if you have any suggestions on how to make the site
better - please complete the survey on the Survey page.

Back
again... I am back from holidays and will be updating the
site in the next 2 weeks with more content. The polls and
site surveys are helping me decide what types of content to
add - so if you haven't completed the survey please feel free
to do so.
The shanemcdonald.org site now has an operating webcam which
shows live pictures when I am on-line. Also, the pictures on
shanemcdonald.org will be updated this week.

July 2002
Website
Downtime... There were some server changes made by Cedant my the
hosting company in mid June which resulted in many of the
pages showing old data and many of the dynamic php pages
failing to output correct HTML. PHP is now running as a cgi
module and this means php does not run outside of certain
directories - much to my annoyance. So, I re-coded a lot of
the site to circumvent these problems which seem to have been
fixed by my updates and there has been a redesign of the site
as many of the pages have been moved out to shanemcdonald.org
which went live on Friday 5th of July.
NOTE :
The certain
sections of the members section may be still off line - if
anyone has had problems logging in please let me know and I
will try and update the passwd config file.

Continued
increase in traffic on this Site... In the last 7months there has been
an extraordinary and considerable increase in the traffic on

Topic of the Week, is not part of this site but it is a
website by our very own 'Vincenzo' providing a
controversial/satiricial view on the world in his thought for
the week section, and to be updated every Friday.
The Links Page, has undergone a major revamp
and all work on the changing the format of the links page has
been completed. The old links page is no longer available. Feedback
on the format and the look of the new links page is welcome.

the website. It is based on the popular Hamster
